World Wine Discovery – Burgundy
Burgundy is the most revered wine turf on earth. It is also the most complex and the most expensive. Navigating its communes, vineyards, vintages and domaines is confusing and all too often disappointing. But at its finest, Burgundy represents the most sublime wines on earth. The secret lies in its greatest domaines.
There’s a lot of dross Burgundy around these days (even at the pointy end) but the secret is to get to know Burgundy’s finest producers. For this reason, this course will feature only wines from six of Burgundy’s greatest domaines: Bonneau du Martray, Méo-Camuzet, Leflaive, Sauzet, Dujac and William Fèvre. These wines are not cheap ($1700 in 12 bottles here!) but this is the price of quality.
Tyson Stelzer and Mark Folker will be your personal tour guides to taste you through twelve Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines from Chablis, white Burgundy and red Burdundy, including three epic Grand Crus. When I was in Burgundy last I (Tyson) tasted most of the wines from barrel that we will be tasting here. I look forward to sharing these insights with you.
